Article I- Membership

Section 1

The membership of this association shall consist of active members, life members, nonvoting active members, and honorary members.

Section 2

Any Active membership will be restricted to persons employed by the Department of Public Safety as Peace Officer who holds the rank of Sergeant or higher, or Special Agent Supervisor or higher.

    A) Provided any such active member has paid membership dues as prescribed in these by-laws

​

    B) Any active membership shall be cancelled upon demotion, resignation, discharge, or removal from employment which establishes their eligibility for such membership.

Section 3

Life memberships shall be awarded to all active members, who are members in good standing at the time of their ordinary or disability retirement.

(a)     A member of this association, who vests with at least 22 years of service, shall be given a life membership.

(b)     No fees or dues will be required of a life member.

(c)     When all requirements of these by-laws are met, regarding vesting or retirement, such new life member shall be presented by this association, a life membership card, retirement badge and case, and a cash gift in the amount of $15.00 per year of service completed.

Section 4

Honorary membership in this association may be awarded by the Board of Directors to a person who rendered distinguished public service, or to  persons who have made an outstanding contribution to law enforcement, or to those who have indicated a great regard for the perpetuation and promotion of protective measures related to the membership of his association.

(a)     Honorary members shall not enjoy an benefits acquired through an active membership, and shall not hold office or vote.

(b)     Honorary members shall be presented with one or all of the following: Membership card, Membership plaque, and/or membership plaque and certificate.

(c)     Any active member of this association may nominate to the Board of Directors the name of any person to be considered for such membership. The nomination shall be written and include information supporting the nomination, with witnesses' names and addresses, if any.

Section 5

Applications for active membership shall be made in writing to the Secretary/Treasurer of the Association on forms approved by the Board of Directors.

Section 6

No person shall be permitted to simultaneously hold more than one membership in this association.
